| Solar thermal desalination performing in African dessert | Monday, 11. October 2010 |
| Next level of solar thermal desalination system is currently running in the African dessert One benefit of solar thermal over Reverse Osmosis systems is their ability to treat any kind of raw water (no matter what salinity level (up to300.000 ppm) or other contaminants) and distill pure drinking water out of it. The "downside" is that they need some heat source to heat up the raw water to temperatures requried for the thermal desalination process. Exactly to find out how this system is performing under what parameters is part of this installation in Africa. Here are some pics of this installation with key facts: 2 x Thermal Desalination system @ 5m³/d 1 x 20' High Cube Container 18m³ solar thermal buffer tank 220m² solar thermal field (space underneath collectors can still be used as parking lot etc) 60m² Photovoltaic to power pumps etc Product water buffer tanks Remote monitoring system
